Today we’d like to introduce you to Shadi Ameri.

Hi Shadi, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My friend which is a photographer took me on a photo shoot with her and taught me how to shoot manually with her camera for fun. After we were done shooting, she looked at my images and had tears in her eyes. I thought I’ve done something wrong. She looked at me and said do you know how much I pushed myself to do what you just did? You have a very creative eye for photography. From that moment on the camera became part of my body and my life. When I have my camera in hand I have no worries, no fears and I fall in love with every shot I take.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a very long and challenging road for me to get where I am today. When I started back in 2010, I worked hard, long hours, for little money. I was persistent, patient, and never gave up because I love what I do. It took me years to learn my worth and what to charge to do this full time but now I can say I am a successful business owner and making people look amazing in photographs is my superpower.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am known for making people look amazing in photographs. I specialize in studio portrait photography. I started with wedding photography but shortly after I learned that I do not want to be an event photographer. I am more artistic and creative and love experiencing different looks by playing with lights in my studio and being in control of how I capture my image. What separates me from other photographers is I take my time to capture my subject’s best facial and body expressions. I do not snap 1000 images from one pose. I guide them through the whole process and make them feel comfortable on set. Being an actress also is another reason that helped me understand how it feels being in front of the camera and what needs to be done to take the best shot. I am against just digital images. I like to finish my artwork by offering my clients beautiful prints and wall portraits and help them design their walls with beautiful images that they will cherish forever.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc.?
Audible is the app I use to listen to educational audiobooks when I walk my dog or drive. Spotify and Pendora app for when I retouch my images or on set shooting my clients. I believe music really helps them to get into the mood and feel more comfortable and inspired.
